GERMANY GET GOLD

GERMANY GET GOLD

It was Germany's young marine racers who fought off all the international challengers to be crowned the champions at the first UK hosted, UIM Formula Future and Continental Championship event supported by racing promoter, Powerboat P1.

However, it wasn't all plain sailing for the young German racers as the Czech Republic pushed hard and took second place with Malaysia hot on their heels for third. The event hosted by the Union Internationale Motonautique attracted 80 junior pilots aged from 8-18 from all corners of the globe, all of whom competed in manoeuvring and slalom disciplines.

Junior teams from Great Britain, Malaysia, Portugal, Germany, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Russia competed against the clock over two days of fierce competition in five different classes with championship points awarded for speed as well as technique.

As well as the group results individual titles were up for grabs and Great Britain's Jordan Muckles was crowned Class 4 World Champion as well as winning Formula Future World Individual in his class. The 14-year-old pilot said "I can't believe I actually came first in the World Championship. I'm lost for words. It's been a fantastic competition and we have all had a brilliant time. To win first place is unbelievable and I hope that I can do the same in the next competition".

Asif Rangoonwala, Chairman of PowerboatP1 Management commented: "These children are the future of the sport and have shown huge motivation throughout the competition. The event has been a huge achievement for everybody involved and Powerboat P1 is delighted to be able to support the series and promote the grassroots development of our sport."
